- Leaves dancing as they fall from the trees, the landscape turns from green through to red, oranges and yellow reflecting the fires that now are lit, reminding us to pause and reflect; where are we now, what did we do to get here, where might we want to be?

Hello there,

Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter and joining our community. I'm very pleased to share my monthly catch-up letter with you and look forward to hearing your thoughts.

November is a month of deepening connection with the earth and embracing introspective energy following Samhain. It's a time to retreat inward, strengthen your practice, and prepare for the winter months. Between Samhain and Yule (Winter Solstice), the energy shifts to introspection and honoring the cycle of death and rebirth as we enter the darker half of the year. Samhain marks the start of this phase, a period for reflecting with our ancestors, while Yule invites us to embrace inner warmth and prepare for the rebirth of the sun.

As we enter Scorpio season, ruled by Mars and Pluto, we’re encouraged to dive deep within ourselves, exploring hidden layers and seeking truth beneath the surface. Scorpio’s energy brings transformation and rebirth, inviting us to confront our shadows and release what no longer serves us. It’s a powerful time for introspection and healing, asking us to shed old wounds and make room for growth.

In the spirit of Scorpio’s intensity, reflect on areas of your life needing transformation. This season encourages letting go with intention, clearing space for your authentic self. Scorpio’s passion is perfect for reconnecting with what drives you. Engage in activities that reignite your inner fire, allowing passion to guide you forward with purpose.

November, often called the season of shadow work, encourages raw honesty in relationships. It reminds us that strong connections are built in both light and vulnerability. Scorpio invites us to be open, communicate our truths, and embrace the depth of our bonds. By facing the darkness together, we strengthen our ability to support one another through life’s challenges. Embrace this transformative energy and let it bring you inner growth.

Blessings,

Dear Joy

- Dear Joy

On my Etsy shop JoyWellnessWitch my practice is open to the whole world. I'm very grateful to the openness and connection I have with my clients. Each month I'll be sharing someone's energetic queries and my intuitive advice.

Dear Joy,

I’ve been feeling really ungrounded lately, almost like I’m floating and disconnected from everything around me. I can’t seem to focus, and I feel scattered and overwhelmed by life’s responsibilities. I’ve tried a few things to feel more centred, but nothing seems to help for long. Do you have any suggestions or magical tips on how I can get back to feeling grounded and stable again?

Love & Light

- Floating in Frustration

Dear Floating in Frustration,

Thank you for reaching out! Feeling ungrounded is something many of us experience, especially in today’s fast-paced world where energy is constantly shifting. It can feel as if our roots have been pulled up, leaving us disconnected from the earth beneath us. When that connection is lost, even the simplest tasks can feel overwhelming. You're certainly not alone in this, and being aware of your state is the first step toward healing.

Grounding is all about re-establishing your connection with the Earth’s energy. Here are a few practical and magical grounding exercises to try. Start by standing barefoot on the earth—whether it’s grass, dirt, or sand—and visualize roots growing from the soles of your feet, reaching deep into the ground and anchoring you. Breathing deeply while doing this can enhance the experience. (If you can’t get outside, use your imagination and feel your feet connecting with the floor.) There are some great free grounding videos on YouTube. Another powerful exercise is to hold a grounding crystal, like hematite, smoky quartz, or black tourmaline, in your hand. Focus on its weight and energy pulling you back to your center. You can also try a grounding tea ritual—brew some chamomile or peppermint tea, hold the warm cup in your hands, and sip it slowly, imagining the earth's energy flowing into you with each sip.

When I ground, I often anchor it with a 10-20 minute ceremony. I start with a body scan to relax, open up to spirit, cleanse, ground, and end by placing a protective bubble around myself and my loved ones.

Lastly, here’s a bit of hedgewitch magic—when you’re feeling really scattered, take some time to create a grounding sachet. Fill a small pouch with rosemary, sage, and cedar chips, herbs known for their protective and grounding properties. Carry it with you or keep it near your bed at night. Also, be gentle with yourself during this time. Grounding is a practice that benefits from consistency, so allow yourself time to adjust. Incorporating these rituals into your daily routine can help restore focus and stability. I know I might sound like a broken record about self-care, but it truly is the foundation of all healing, grounding included.

Hocus Pocus: Egg Magick for Cleansing

Every month I give you something you can practice at home, this week it’s focused around the egg cleansing magic.

- Cleanse using egg magick

Eggs have long been associated with magic and spirituality across various cultures, symbolising new beginnings, fertility, protection, and transformation. In magical practice, the egg's shell represents boundaries and protection, while the yolk signifies the potential for new life and manifestation. Using eggs in magic is believed to draw upon their energetic properties to cleanse, heal, and manifest intentions. One of the most common uses of eggs in magick is for protection and cleansing spells, especially to absorb and remove negative energies.

Eggs can act as a natural conduit between the physical and spiritual realms, making them a powerful tool for banishing negativity and promoting new, positive energies in your life.

Use this spell to remove unwanted negative energy or influences from your life. Great after a break up or disagreement, or if you feel the evil eye on you

Recipe:

  1. 1 fresh egg (preferably a white egg)

  2. A glass of water

  3. Black candle (for banishing negativity)

  4. Salt

  5. Cleansing herbs like sage or rosemary (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Set Your Intention
Hold the egg in your dominant hand. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and set the intention to remove all negative energy from your body, aura, and space.

  2. Egg Cleansing
Slowly move the egg over your body, starting from the top of your head, and work your way down. As you do this, visualise the egg absorbing any negative energy, emotional blockages, or spiritual residue that no longer serves you.

  3. Special Attention to Key Areas
Pay extra attention to your head (crown chakra), heart, and solar plexus. These are areas where we often store stress, anxiety, or negative emotions. If you want to be rid of the energy of an ex pay special attention to your base chakra

  4. Visualise Release
As you roll the egg over your body, imagine it absorbing all negativity, and feel lighter with each movement. Focus on letting go of any emotions or situations that have weighed you down.

  5. Seal with Salt
Once the egg has absorbed all the negative energy, place it in a bowl of salt for a few minutes to absorb any residual energy.

  1. Crack the Egg into Water
Crack the egg into a glass of water. As it breaks, visualise all the negative energy being released and separated from you. (Some people believe its appearance can give insight into the negative energy that was affecting them.)

  2. Dispose of the Egg
Carefully discard the egg and water away from your home, such as flushing it down the toilet or burying it in the earth, when possible using your less dominant hand

  3. Close the Spell
Thank the egg for its assistance. Blow out the black candle, sealing the intention that negativity has left your life.

  4. Ground Yourself
Take a few moments to ground yourself by drinking water, eating, or meditating on positive energy and protection surrounding you.

  5. Cleansing Bath (optional)
If desired, take a salt bath afterwards to fully cleanse and recharge your energy. Add rosemary or lavender to enhance the effect.

Top tip, if i'm feeling the "Evil eye" on me I will sleep with an egg next to my bed at nite, setting the intention of it absorbing the negative energy that comes my way and disposing of it in the morning as above (please use your common sense, stay safe, no candles whilst sleeping!)

Last word

Repeat this spell whenever you feel weighed down by negativity or unwanted energy. Egg magick is a gentle yet powerful practice to restore balance, cleanse your aura, and renew your spiritual energy.

Poem

- Reading a poem under a tree

This really resonated with me at this time in between Samhain at the end of October when the veil is at its thinnest and Winter solstice when in December when we celebrate our darkest day with under 8 hours daylight (contrasting between our longest day summer solstice where we have over 16 and a half hours daylight).

There is a difference between growing from our dark times as people and as a society and continuing to live in those times.

For me this poem both acknowledges what has gone before and celebrates the coming through it, I sense this is a reminder in these dark weeks and in the darkest moments of our lives that growth comes, sometimes all the more magnificent because of this dark time.

Once upon a time there was a wise old woman who lived in the forest. She knew every tree, plant, root and its use in healing and earth magic. Her friends were the great Oak, the dancing Birch and the Mother Beech; the wolf, the fox, the owl and the deer. She told the time by the path of the sun, the cycle of the moon and the turning of the wheel of the year and always gave thanks to the Elements and the Great Mother. She saw and knew things others did not. Her craft was handed down down through the generations, from grandmother to granddaughter. Healer and midwife, bringing in new life and blessing the passing of departing souls.

Times change The words witch, hag and crone, meaning wise, holy, crowned, became words of fear and hate, used to denigrate and destroyher reputation and the respect her community held her in. Women were killed in their thousands because of the power of their voices and their knowledge. Generations on, the Wise Woman lives on in us and will once again have a voice. The Wise Woman is rising. Reclaiming her title and her place. Leading from her heart with a fierce love to bring balance back to our beautiful world.
