Hello there,
Thank you for joining me again this week, and a warm welcome to all new subscribers. I hope that after last weekās issue you paused to catch the vibe of the trees you pass, and, like me, discovered that the more you listen, the more they speak.
This week is a celebration of how to bring the power of lavender into your lifeāa true panacea for all. I endeavour to share a little something special to enhance your energy. In Dear Joy, we join Lottie on her journey towards a love life worthy of her, a subject that many of my seekers on Etsy find both resonant and challenging.
Introducing: Lavender Alchemy
This week, Iām excited to share the remarkable benefits of a herbal healerālavender is so much more than a common plant. All plants have a magickal vibration, yet lavenderās alchemical qualities are often overlooked.

Photo: The Alchemic Properties of Lavender are Vast
As I write this, Iāve just reached for my lavender room spray; at its essence, it raises the energy of a space. It brings to mind the wisdom of our ancestors, reminding us that what was once valued still holds relevance today. Lavender is, quite literally, an elixir of the gods available to us witches when we know how to harness its power. For me, it effortlessly transports my senses to the Mediterranean, and I have always leaned into my clairsentience when working with it. Lavandula officinalisāalso known as Stickadore, Spikenard, Nard, Nardus, Asarum, and Elf Leafāis harvested here in the UK from June to August.
Lavender is a gentle tonic for the nervous system. An infusion of its flowers can help with nervous debility, exhaustion, insomnia, physical and mental tension, and stress-induced headaches. It prevents fainting and allays nausea and travel sickness. A lavender eye pillow is an excellent addition to any home, and I use mine during meditation on sunny days as it blocks excess light and enhances the experience.
Lavender can also be enjoyed as a tea or added (just a few drops) to a bath to ease the aches and pains of rheumatism and general weakness. Externally, it serves as a mouthwash for infected gums, mouth ulcers, insect bites, and even sunburn. Iāve heard that hospitals now use lavender in their air systems to kill germs and treat burn victims. When my family or I spend too long in the sun, a few drops mixed with a natural moisturiser soothe red, irritated skin.
Lavender cleanses the bloodstream of toxins, strengthens the liver, and clears stagnation. It aids the stomach, reduces bloating, and lowers blood pressure, thereby calming heart palpitations and hot flushes. Every part of the plant is edible, and I use it as a herb for seasoning both sweet and savoury dishesālavender flat jack is a delightful treat.
Lavender also brings relaxation, deeper meditation, trance states, and a profound sense of oneness. It enhances spiritual understanding in everyday life and works wonderfully as incense for cleansing, new beginnings, and connecting to your potential and unformed ideas. Burning lavender in a diffuser or adding it to your sage sticks will always calm and uplift the energy. A simple bunch of lavender by your door for protection, under your bed for sleep, or tucked away in your drawers simply because it smells divine, can make a world of difference.
Below is a household cleansing and protection spell that can also be adapted for an office or classroom:
Cleansing & Protection Spell
Light a white or natural beeswax candle.
Take a small jug of natural spring or filtered water.
Chant over the bowl:
"Out with the old,
In with the new,
Health, wealth and happiness,
Flow quickly and easily to me
In numerous ways,
Iām safe here and now,
Let the love flow."Add a few drops of essential oil to the water and funnel it into a light spray bottle, remembering to shake it occasionally as the oil and water separate.
For releasing energy, start on your highest floor and work downwards in an anti-clockwise direction. For manifesting, move clockwise from your bottom floor up. Combining both approaches is idealāalways let go first to create space for new energy.
As you work through each room, focus on corners for cleansing, pause, spray your magick water, and recite the chant, focusing especially on windows and doors for manifesting.
To close the spell, return to your candle, repeat the enchantment, and add, āAs above, so below, so mote it be.ā
Before blowing out the candle, pause to count your gratitude for the energetic work done and its positive repercussions.
This spell aligns perfectly with the energy of Thursdayās Waning Quarter Moon.
Warning: Do not ingest any essential oil. Do not use with insulin (for diabetics). Avoid if epileptic. Lavender can affect blood pressure and the central nervous system. If you need surgery or dental work, cease using lavender at least two weeks in advance.
Dear Joy: Your Personal Questions Answered
On my Etsy shop JoyWellnessWitch my practice is open to the whole world. I'm very grateful to the openness and connection I have with my clients. Each week I'll be sharing someone's energetic queries and my intuitive advice.

- Dear Joy
Question:
Dear Joy,
I met a guy on the first weekend in December ā long story short, we havenāt met up again yet. He lives 2 hours and 20 minutes away and works on the roads, so his driving isnāt an issue. I live in a rural community and would welcome some fresh energy. He mentioned having his kids on alternate weekends, as I have mine, and everything felt meant to be that night. However, he said weād meet up this weekend, but itās now 10 weeks since we first met, and Iām not so sure anymore. I feel very confused and wonder if what I want to manifest is truly happening, or if heās simply wasting my time.
ā Lottie, Norfolk, UK
My Response:
Dear Lottie,
Thank you for sharing your experience, and please accept a big virtual hug from me. Itās natural to feel torn between moving your life forward and supporting a dear friend, especially when long-standing patterns make it hard to set boundaries. Often, people present their best selves at the start, and if that best self hasnāt come to visit by now, you deserve to consider your own needs. For both aspects of your situation, prepare for the worst and hope for the bestāthis is not the end of your dream, merely a delay. It reaffirms that a relationship is important to you, yet it also suggests you are secure in your own skin and not desperate for validation.
I encourage you to stay grounded in your own truth, not solely in what you wish to be. Consider introducing fresh energy into your life independently, taking small steps to celebrate your intrinsic worth. For example, practising a cleansing ritual (as discussed previously) could help clear any lingering negativity, and perhaps a love spell might be beneficial in a few weeks. In the meantime, remember that as energy attracts like energy, the more you love and appreciate yourself, the more others will be drawn to you.
It may be that you are so focused on having a relationship that youāve overlooked the importance of being happy on your own first. With both childcare responsibilities and the significant distance between you, itās possible that your rural environment is highlighting an opportunity to consider relocating. Trust that nothing happens by accident.
Please check in with me as things unfold. Your sisterhood and I are rooting for you.
Blessings,
Joy x
